Volume 6 Number 3 “An Opportunity Ahead in the New Year”

I’ve pulled up one of the conference worksheets with Karen’s notes for a particular ladies’ retreat. This retreat was for pastors’ wives. Karen spoke three times to ministry ladies who had traveled in from all over the Northeast part of the United States. Karen loved being a pastor’s wife. She loved the church family, and they loved her as well.

In these three sessions, she spoke of the practical and precious opportunity the Lord gives pastors’ wives to serve. She goes on to emphasize that it is not just the pastor’s wife who is to do the work of the ministry. She encouraged the ladies to develop and train the church ladies to become intentional in their ministries,  outreach and relationships. Here are several verses that she used to conclude her third session and the statement she wrote to finalize the retreat.

“Serve the Lord with gladness. Come before His presence with singing. Know ye that the LORD He is God: it is He that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture” (Psalm 100:2-3).

Karen wrote: “Jesus took time with His disciples to talk with them, give of Himself to them, and to love them unconditionally. He built relationships. With His help, we can do the same. What an opportunity is ours!”

Michael’s observation: We are the sheep of His pasture! To me this is a wonderful and glorious blessing. Right here and now, we are His sheep. Forever we will be together with our great Shepherd, our awesome Lord. What a wonderful relationship we have with Christ. With His help we also can build very special relationships with others. What an opportunity is ours!
