Posting # 259 “Take the Challenge! No One Overlooked!”

How about a little variety today?
Let’s get to the Scripture text and setting of Karen’s Notes right away today.
Almost thirty-five years ago Karen was to speak at a ladies’ event in New York State. Her assignment was to encourage ladies to be more sensitive to others and to discover joy in encouraging and serving. I am not sure how she did it in just one presentation. (You know that she had the tremendous ability to get right to the heart of the matter in twenty words! Her husband was still getting to the heart of the matter after 200 words!)
One of the verses she used was Proverbs 31:20, “She stretches out her hand to the poor; yea, she reaches forth her hands to the needy.” No one was to be overlooked!
This is a portion of the closing paragraph.
Christ showed such sweet sensitivity in His ministry. The hungry crowds were fed. Those grieving were cared for by the Savior who wept. He understood when the disciples grew tired. He even cared for His mother while He was on the cross. Because of His wonderful love there ought to be a sweetness and sensitivity in our lives. We need to be encouragers to those who serve publicly. Don’t forget those who serve in less public settings. Have you thanked the nursery workers, kitchen helpers, those who care for the facilities and even those who serve on the prayer chain?
Let me send you on your way with just a closing thought.
Lots of things have changed for me in the last few years. However! This has remained a constant. There are so many opportunities to be an encouragement to someone each day. I have challenged myself to encourage at least one person every day. This can be in person, or via a text, an email or letter. May I ask you to take the challenge? Reaching out to others is something that is good for men and ladies alike.
Please feel free to share Karen’s Notes with your family or friends. You never have to ask permission.
