#267 “Active Worship for Busy People”

Here is something that Karen really loved.
Karen often mentored ladies on a one-by-one basis. She especially loved mentoring young moms. Karen often told them, “No one is busier than you are. But no matter how busy you are, don’t forget to take a few moments here and a few moments there to worship.”
Karen understood what it was like.
As you well know, Karen was not only my wife, she was a pastor’s wife and very involved with the beloved church family. She was also a mother to her ten children and multiple other foster children who needed a safe place to stay for a couple of days. She was also a ladies’ conference speaker as well as being a caregiver for her beloved mother for a period of time.
She understood busy. But she also very much understood what a joy, privilege, and responsibility that every believer has despite busyness. I’m speaking of worship. She instilled the importance of intentional worship in the lives of her children as well as the ladies whom she mentored.
In her Bible she has underlined several words that she knew would be essential in our worship. Let me share the Scripture and then the words she underlined.
“O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon His name: make known His deeds among the people. Sing unto Him, sing psalms unto Him: talk ye of all His wonderful works. Glory ye in His holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD. Seek the LORD, and His strength: seek His face evermore. Remember His marvelous work that He has done” (Psalm 105:1-5a).
Karen wrote: Active worship:
then she underlined:
“O give thanks” (105:1a)
“Make known His deeds” (105:1b)
“Sing unto Him” (105:2a)
“Talk ye” (105:2b)
“Glory” (105:3a)
“Rejoice” (105:3b)
“Seek the LORD” (105:4)
“Remember His marvelous works” (105:5)
Here is what I am thinking about today: Everyone is busy. I truly believe that no one is busier than a new mommy or a mommy with several children. But it doesn’t really matter how busy we are when it comes to worship. Worship must be intentional. These words underlined from God’s Word are truly important for us all. Regardless of our busyness, worship is still our blessedness!
