# 299 “Living the Intentional Life”
January 17th, 2024
Let’s grab hold of a word. I’m thinking of a word that I think is really powerful. According to dictionary.com it’s an adjective meaning, 1.”To be done with intention or on purpose; intended.” 2. “Of or relating to intention or purpose.” Of course, you already know the word is “intentional.”
I often hear from people that never met my Karen who went Home to be with the Lord in 2017. They say things like, “Every Wednesday when I read a tiny post from her notes, I feel like I am getting to know her better.” Others who knew Karen occasionally remark, “Yep! That sounds just like Karen.” I especially appreciate the comments like, “I look forward to Karen’s Notes every Wednesday. They encourage me and point me to Christ.”
She wasn’t perfect, but she surely was intentional. Karen was very busy as wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, encourager to the ladies at our churches, national JOY Club director at Baptist Church Planters and a ladies’ conference speaker. The Lord blessed her life and ministries in very special ways. I am convinced that one of the reasons this was true was because she intentionally lived for the Lord.
She was reading through Colossians 1:10-12. Let me share the verses and then I will share the private, personal notes she wrote to herself.
“That you might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; Giving thanks unto the Father, which has made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light.”
Karen wrote:
1. In my walk – live worthy (10a)
2. In my work – fruitful living (10b)
3. In my wisdom – learning more (10c)
4. In my warfare – power of the Lord (11)
5. In my worship – thankful to the Lord (12)
Michael’s observation: Remember, Karen was writing brief notes to herself and the Lord. She wasn’t expecting us to read this someday, and so, of course, these are not written out in complete sentences. However! I know that these are five areas in both men’s and women’s lives where living intentionally produces great blessings. Well, Karen, you’ve done it again! You are enjoying Heaven and still encouraging us!
