“Praise ye the LORD. Praise, O ye servants of the LORD, praise the name of the LORD” (Psalm 113:1).
The Lord is absolutely worthy of our deepest love and praise. I am convinced that in the busyness of daily living we can easily get distracted from what is most important in our lives. We can get caught up making a living, keeping up with the bills, caring for our children or grandchildren, seeking to succeed at our places of employment, and dealing with the occasional emergency or heartache that comes because we live in a broken world. We need to stop! Just STOP! For just a few moments we need to come apart from the cares of this world and worship our great Lord. There are several things I want to regularly tell Him. I want to speak to Him the following things.
My affection. “I love Thee, O LORD, my strength” (Psalm 18:1).
My assurance. “In Thee, O LORD, do I put my trust” (Psalm 31:1).
My appreciation. “I will greatly praise the LORD with my mouth” (Psalm 109:30).
My awe. “Holy and reverend is His name. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom” (Psalm 111:9-10).
For today: Are these the kinds of things you are saying to Him in your praise and worship? Taking time to “come apart” to praise the Lord usually causes the believer to keep from “falling apart.”
