“Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God; Him shalt thou serve and to Him shalt thou cleave” (Deuteronomy 10:20).
Moses soon would be leaving the children of Israel. Joshua would become the next leader, so with passion and power Moses pleaded with the second generation of God’s people to keep the Lord in the proper place in their lives. He is to be feared. He is to be served. He is to be intentionally, closely followed.
Mark and Janelle closed their Bibles after reading Deuteronomy 10 for their couple’s devotions. Mark spoke softly to his wife of six weeks, “Honey, if these principles were good for the children of Israel in the Old Testament, how much greater will they be for us today? I want these heart attitudes to be the description of our home and marriage.” It was a precious time of agreement that night for this young couple. How will these principles play out in your life today?
Here’s a question for each of us: If someone were to ask you, “So, what does the Lord mean to you?” how would you answer them? Good question for each of us today, isn’t it?
