Changes.
Adjustments.
Nothing familiar.
Do these words bring enjoyment to your mind or to one degree or another do they bring apprehension? Let me share this verse and then the application.
“Know therefore that the LORD thy God, He is God, the faithful God” (Deuteronomy 7:9).
Changes were coming for the children of Israel. Most, if not all, of the first generation of the people who left the Egyptian bondage had died. The second generation had grown up, had families, and lived in the wilderness under the presence and leadership of Moses for all those years. It would soon be time to go to battle and take possession of the land which God had promised His people.
The thing that must have been the most unsettling about all this would have been that Moses would not be going with them. Into a strange new land, facing new battles, they would be going without their beloved Moses. That’s why Moses spoke to them these words of assurance. These are words that they could trust. This would be something that they must know. With profound conviction, Moses proclaimed,
“Know therefore that the LORD thy God, He is God, the faithful God.” With that truth they could face any new situation, and so can we!
So, here’s my question for you today: What new situation are you facing today to which this truth will help you adjust?
