On this second Wednesday of May, I am bringing us back to one of Karen’s Notebooks as she took notes on a message I was preaching fourteen years ago. We are looking at King David’s “As For Me” statements of faith and courage. This is #315 that I am sharing with you today.
Week # 1- King’s David “As For Me” of adoration. Despite the wickedness that is abounding, I will still worship and love the Lord.
Today, Week # 2- King David’s “As For Me” of affection. Despite lawlessness and schemes of dishonest people, I will walk in integrity because I am in love with the Lord.
“LORD, I have loved the habitation of Your house, and the place where Your glory dwells. Do not gather my soul with sinners, nor my life with bloodthirsty men, in whose hands is a sinister scheme, and whose right hand is full of bribes. But as for me I will walk in my integrity; redeem me and be merciful to me” (Psalm 26:8-11).
This surely applies to us, doesn’t it? Sometimes I just simply shake my head in disbelief when I hear of dishonesty, embezzlement, and downright crookedness. But friends, this is not new. What a great opportunity King David had to do the right thing even when others were doing the wrong thing. You and I, as followers of the Lord Jesus, are called upon to be salt and light (Matthew 5:13-16). We love the Lord, His Word, His work, and His people because we are redeemed and rejoicing in His mercy.
