It’s Friday, but Sunday is coming. It makes me think about the family of the Lord and our worship of Him.
“This do in remembrance of Me” (1 Corinthians 11:24). “In remembrance of Me” (1 Corinthians 11:25).
Often in Bible-believing churches, the Lord’s Supper is observed around the first Sunday of each month. Perhaps this coming Sunday you will have communion in your local church. The Apostle Paul laid out the wonderful truth of the glorious picture of the body of Christ given on the cross and His precious blood shed as the sacrifice for our sins. This ordinance is a picture of what the Lord Jesus did on Calvary. The bread stays bread; it is a symbol. The grape juice stays grape juice; it is also a symbol. But we are to eat and drink these in remembrance of His broken body and shed blood.
It is a special time to once again remember our precious Savior and the severe price He paid for our sin debt. He became our sin that we might be made His righteousness (2 Corinthians 5:21). What a precious time to take some spiritual inventory to examine ourselves and to share our praise and thanksgiving for His wonderful salvation.
Today is a great day to begin preparing for corporate worship this Sunday. Ask the Lord to help you to fully focus on Him as you ‘do this in remembrance’ of the Lord Jesus.
