“Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus” (Romans 3:24).

How absolutely wonderful it is to know the Lord Jesus in a personal, saving way. God has revealed very clearly to us in the Scriptures how we can have a relationship with Him. Biblical Christianity is not a religion. It is a relationship.

Let me tell you about these folks. An elderly couple was sitting on their front porch as I walked up their sidewalk. Inviting me to come and join them on that warm day, our conversation began with pleasantries as I introduced myself and explained that their daughter had asked me to stop by and visit them.

They were members of an organization that believed its members had to work diligently to achieve some kind of “betterment in the next world.” They were eager to hear about this new “religion” as they put it that their daughter was following. What a joy to explain that it wasn’t a religion. It was that she now had a relationship with the Lord Jesus. After two hours of precious conversation, with tears, both Mom and Dad said, “That’s what we don’t have now, but it is what we both want.”

With joy, both placed their trust in the Lord Jesus. Let me ask you. Are you following a religion that demands you try to perform something to be “good enough” or do you have a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ?

For today: Life is still hard and sometimes confusing, but the joy of belonging to the Lord is truly precious. Do you know Him?
