I hope that you have enjoyed the very brief portions of the newsletter, “Dr. Mike’s Weekly House Calls” that I have sent to our retired missionaries of Baptist Church Planters. Our “Daily Prescription” for today is taken from the newsletter sent on Tuesday, April 16, 2019.
Here’s a thought. Let me share something with you, would you, please? Thanks. Here’s what I want to share with you. As I grow older, here’s a couple of things that I don’t want growing along with me.
I don’t want to grow crabby. “He’s a crabby old man” is NOT something I want said of me.
I don’t want to grow lazy. While my schedule may not be as busy as it used to be, I still want to be as active as possible.
I don’t want to grow weak and doubtful. I want to grow stronger in my convictions and trust.
I don’t want to become an old prune-face man. I want to smile. I want to be warm and friendly.
I don’t want to live ungratefully. I want to say, “Thank you!” often to the Lord and to those around me.
This has really come to mean a lot to me! “For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal” (2 Corinthians 4:16-18).
Back to today! Whatever age you might be, I hope that as believers, you and I together will grow stronger and more gracious day by day, week by week and year by year because of Who the Lord is and what He has planned for us.
