Once again, I am changing the names in the illustration for today. As you read the Daily Prescription today, stop and ask the Lord to protect you, your family, and your church family.
“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I will set no wicked thing before my eyes” (Jeremiah 17:9; Psalm 101:3).
Jake sat in the waiting area in the church office where he attended. His pastor was finishing with the counseling appointment ahead of him. The church secretary offered him coffee or water, but he was so upset that he was afraid he was going to be sick. “No, thank you, Nancy. I just can’t eat or drink anything this morning.” The secretary was kind and assured him that Pastor Kenward would be with him soon.
It was only moments before she returned to the waiting area to get him. Jake burst into the pastor’s office and literally ran into the pastor’s arms. Sobbing heavily, Jake could hardly breathe, say nothing of being able to speak. “Pastor, my life is in shambles this morning. Last night I found pornography on my wife’s computer. Can you believe it? Pornography, of all things, Pastor, I found pornography on Lara’s laptop!”
Over the next half hour, Pastor Kenward was finally able to get Jake to sit down, breathe deeply and talk with him. We’ll share more tomorrow about Jake, Lara, and Pastor Kenward. But let me for now issue a tender call and plea to live for Christ, set nothing wicked before your eyes, and answer the question, “What’s on your computer?”
This little tune is going to run through your mind today! As the old time children’s chorus goes, “O be careful little eyes what you see…For the Father up above is looking down in love, so be careful little eyes what you see. “
