One word focus for today: sing!
Even those of us who will never be asked to do special music in a worship service can still sing unto the Lord! You will be in great company if part of your daily worship involves singing.
Think of Moses. “Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the Lord, and spoke, saying, I will sing unto the LORD for He hath triumphed gloriously” (Exodus 15:1).
Think of Hezekiah. “Moreover Hezekiah the king and the princes commanded the Levites to sing praise unto the LORD with the words of David, and of Asaph the seer. And they sang praises with gladness, and they bowed their heads and worshipped” (2 Chronicles 29:30).
Think of David. “I will be glad and rejoice in Thee: I will sing praise to Thy name, O Thou most High” (Psalm 9:2).
Think of Isaiah. “Sing unto the LORD; for He hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth” (Isaiah 12:5).
Think of Paul. “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your heart to the Lord” (Colossians 3:16).
There are plenty more verses we could read. The word “sing” appears 119 times in the Bible. “Singing” appears 29 times and “sang” 12 times. So today, my friends, choose to sing to the Lord quietly or out loud at the top of your voice. Either way, just sing. Think of the words that you are singing. Think of the rich Biblical content of songs, and hymns, and spiritual songs. Sing often. The Lord loves this and you will be blessed.
