It is hard for me to imagine, but I know that some folks seldom are told “I love you.” Some folks live in circumstances that are cruel, harsh, and filled with painful words and actions. Honestly, friends, behind every face we meet today is a person whom God loves and cares about. We never know what is going on in that life and how much pain is hidden behind the forced smile we see.
It might be a cashier
It might be a co-worker.
It might be a customer.
It might be a police officer.
It might be a postal carrier.
It might be a dozen other people we will meet throughout the day.
Think of this verse of Scripture for just a moment today. “Hereby perceive we the love of God, because He laid down His life for us…” (1 John 3:16). The Lord might not be pleased with how a person is living, but His love is displayed by His own sacrifice on the cross for our sins. How much does the Lord Jesus love us? We probably will never fully understand the depths of His love and the amazing wonder of His substitution on our behalf.
He took our place.
He took our sins.
He suffered the Father’s wrath for us.
There are no other words other than these: Friend, the Lord loves you today. He loves you so much He laid down His life for you. Has there ever been a time in your life that you have by faith placed your trust in the crucified and risen Son of God, the Lord Jesus? For those of us who are Christ-followers, may His love fill us in such a way that others will see Him in our lives. Let’s pray that the Lord will help us to not only live for Him but also to speak for Him as well.
