Recently I came across a workshop that Karen presented many years ago. Somehow these conference notes were placed in a different spot from where Karen typically kept her notes. I suspect she pulled these out to use in conversation in a one-to-one counseling appointment. I’m glad I found these notes to use as we rapidly close out the month of October and look forward to the soon coming of November.
The Scripture text that Karen used is Psalm 105:1-5.
Karen wrote: In this session I would like us to focus on finding peace during our times of trouble. Most women are “doers” and would prefer being busy and that is just what we must do to know God’s peace. It will take effort, commitment, time, and being intentional as we “let the peace of God rule in our hearts” (Colossians 3:15). I like to call it active worship. It is outlined for us in Psalm 105:1-5.
1. Give thanks to Him. “O give thanks unto the LORD” (105:1).
2. Sing to Him. “Sing unto Him, sing psalms unto Him: talk ye of all His wondrous works” (105:2).
3. Glorify Him. “Glory ye in His holy name” (105:3).
4. Seek Him. “Seek the LORD, and His strength: seek His face evermore” (105:4).
5. Remember Him. “Remember His marvellous works that He hath done; His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth” (105:5).
Michael’s observation: This is simply her outline. I read the content and material she studied out and presented, and we will look a little more next time at this recently discovered workshop series. For today, these are just exactly the five things that I need to be doing daily. This is just the need of my heart on this day before Thanksgiving. How about you?
