Because the LORD hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant (Malachi 2:14).
Pastor Kenward and several members of the church family were standing in the foyer of the church one Sunday morning. In came dear members of the church, a husband and wife, married for many, many years. Neither this husband nor his wife enjoyed good health. However! They possessed such a love for each other and joy in the Lord. The foyer lit up with their joyful presence. Guess what? As they walked in, they were holding hands.
“Some folks think we hold hands to keep each other from falling. But truth be told, we actually like each other. In fact, we’re almost getting used to each other,” Franklin said with a smile.
Everyone around them chuckled as well. From our verse today, the idea of companionship flows from understanding the covenant we made at marriage. If you are a married person, I hope that your relationship will be a sweet companionship based on the covenant you made with the Lord and each other.
Oh, dear married friends, don’t let little things keep you from enjoying sweet companionship. If there are big things, turn to the Lord and get some help!
