Do you remember the verse and the situation I shared with you yesterday?
“But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for Himself: the LORD will hear when I call upon Him” (Psalm 4:3).
You will remember from yesterday that John came to Pastor Kenward as a crushed, brokenhearted man. He had recently trusted Christ for salvation and had been so excited to be a Christian. He had been the first in his family to trust Christ, and while not obnoxious in his witness, with joy he had told his family about this newfound faith in the Savior. Each of the family had reacted by rejecting him. I mean every person in the family disowned him.
Sobbing in Pastor Kenward’s office with a broken heart, John asked Pastor Kenward, “How do I survive being rejected by my family? My own pastor told me to come and see you. Even he didn’t want me.” Over the course of the hour-long appointment for that day and then two more times that week, Pastor Kenward met with and encouraged him. Those meetings resulted in a weekly appointment for over two months. That very first day began with Pastor Kenward asking to hear his testimony, and when he was convinced that John indeed knew the Lord, it was a very tender conversation about the Lord and how He would never reject us.
In fact, He desires us.
In fact, He knows us.
In fact, He works in our lives.
In fact, He sets us apart.
In fact, He cherishes us.
In fact, He gives us a special place.
In fact, He whispers, “You are My own.”
In fact, He listens to us.
In fact, He is ever mindful of us,
Psalm 4:3 was the starting point of the counseling. “The Lord has given you a special place, John. He has set you apart as one who is cherished and of great value to Him,” Pastor Kenward shared with John.
How is it with you today: How about it? Do you need a tender reminder of how special you are to the Lord? John did. I need it as well. Special to the Lord is really special, indeed.
