Children are amazing as to how they think and some of the ideas they come up with! Think of this verse with me from the viewpoint of being a grandparent.
“Children’s children are the crown of old men” (Proverbs 17:6).
“Grandpa, I have a question for you. Can I come and live with you?” nine-year-old Andrew asked with all the sincerity that he could muster.
“Live with me? Why, Andy boy! Why would you want to live with me?” Grandpa asked, trying to hold back his smile.
“’Cause Mom and Dad are mean. They won’t let me go to the pond alone. They won’t let me play all afternoon with my Play Station, they make me clean my room, and I even have to load the dishwasher twice a week. Please, Grandpa? Can I live with you?”
Well, at this point Grandpa couldn’t hold the laughter in any longer. “Andy, Andy, Andy. It’s because your folks love you that they have rules. Do you know that your daddy used to say the same thing about me?” Grandpa said as he gave his grandson a hug.
With all the wisdom of childhood, Andy responded, “Oh boy, Grandpa. If you told Dad that same stuff, it must run in our family.”
As you and I laugh at this little statement: May Biblical conviction run in your family!
