“Karen’s Notes!
Insights from a Glory-Bound Lady”

Selected Notes
Volume 8 Number 23 “Situations and My 80/20 Response”

I have been hearing from many men as well as ladies concerning “Karen’s Notes” that are posted every Wednesday, including some dear friends that I have known and loved for fifty years! Others are very new to my website and ministry. To all my friends, both old and new, thank you for stopping by.

No, I am not despondent. But the truth remains, life is hard. Don’t misunderstand me; I am not depressed. I’ve not suddenly plunged into despondency. Not at all! I think it is an exciting time to live for the Lord. Having said that, let me share very frankly that daily I hear from dear folks requesting prayer because of the difficult situation through which they are living.

After praying this morning for so many people that I will never visit in person, I thought of something that I knew I shared a long time ago from Karen’s Bible study journal. I found it!

“O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments, and His ways past finding out! For who hath known the mind of the Lord? Or who hath been His counselor?” (Romans 11:33-34).

Karen was writing about trusting the Lord in the events of our lives.

Karen wrote: In life there seems to be an 80/20 principle. It seems like the situations with which I have little or no control account for 20% of my life. On the other hand, my response or reaction accounts for 80% of my life.
I must remember His sovereignty (Romans 11:33-34).
He is my stronghold (Nahum 1:7).
He is my strength (Psalm 27:14).

Michael’s observation: While I may not be able to control the events that have come into my life, I can, through His grace and strength, respond in a gracious and trusting manner. I find great comfort and blessing as I remember “My times are in Your hand” (Psalm 31:15). May our Lord’s sovereignty be a rich blessing in your life today.
