“Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord” (1 Corinthians 1:2).
Isn’t it interesting that the Apostle Paul referred to the Corinthian believers as “sanctified.” Obviously they didn’t always act very sanctified. But friends, if you think about it, neither do we. What joy comes to our hearts as we understand that since we trusted Christ for salvation, our standing is complete. We are completely set apart unto the Lord. What a glorious and holy position.
We also need to remember that our state of living is how this glorious and holy privilege is being lived out. While we will never be perfect on this side of Heaven, we ought to be desiring to live as He taught us in His Word.
Lastly, when we speak of being sanctified, there is coming a day when it will be complete. Can you even begin to imagine the amazing day when we meet the Lord and we never ever sin again? Our sanctification will be total and complete. I cannot begin to imagine the joy of that day.
Let me send you on your way. But first think of this: I want to live for Christ with a deeper devotion than ever. How about you?
