“What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have of God, and you are not your own? For you are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).
The high school football coach was invited to speak in the Junior High and Senior High youth groups that Wednesday evening. The coach was well-known throughout the region as being one of the winningest coaches in that part of the state. The youth room was packed with young people who wanted to hear this well-known coach. Unlike some of the sports figures, this coach was very humble and gracious as he spoke with the guys and gals. He shared with them his love for the game and his appreciation for the position that was his. But his voice grew strong with conviction when he said to them, “There are three things that I want you to remember tonight. First, I want you to remember the possession. The Bible teaches us that if we know Christ as our Savior, we are His possession. Second, I want you to remember the purchase. The Lord Jesus bought us with His own life. Third, I want you to remember the pursuit. We are to glorify God in everything that we do.” The well-known football coach went on to explain these three points in a very powerful and practical way to that youth group. It sounds like a good lesson for us to remember for today!
For today: “Bought with a price: therefore glorify God” in everything we do today.
