“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9).
Erin was leading the ladies’ Bible study on the subject of faith. She explained to the group of ladies that faith is not something that we manufacture ourselves. Faith does not originate in us. For anyone to believe the Gospel requires the reception of faith given by God as a gift. She took the class to Ephesians 2:8-9 and explained more about this wonderful gift. She helped the ladies to recall that day that they suddenly understood the facts of the Gospel and sensed the profound need and desire to trust the Lord Jesus for salvation. Erin explained that that is the gift of God. The other way faith comes is after we have become a Christian, and we have the opportunity to study God’s Word. She took them to Romans 10:17 and explained that the more we read God’s Word, the stronger our faith will be. So friends, just as Erin taught her class, we understand that in salvation, we receive faith as a gift from God. In our Christian life, our faith will grow as we study and read God’s Word.
For today: It is such a joy to trust the Lord and to walk with Him by faith.
