Dear Supporters and Prayer Partners: “Serve the Lord with gladness” (Psalm 100:2)
What would we ever do without you? I am convinced that many of our friends do not realize the critically vital role that you play in our ministry. In everything we undertake, we depend upon your prayers and support. Thank you for being such an outstanding network of ministry partners.
You Know Us Very Well. Karen and I have served the Lord together for nearly forty-four years. After many years of being a pastor and wife in New York, Karen and I now are marking the thirteenth anniversary of our ministry with Baptist Church Planters. We love being servants. You allow us to serve our amazing God and the most precious missionary family in the world. Our great God uses you to make our ministry possible.
Yes, you know us very well. We enjoy writing to you about our ministry and what we are doing. The Apostle Paul put it this way, “But that you also may know my affairs” (Ephesians 6:21). We love to write to our supporters to inform them of “our affairs.” (Somehow that just doesn’t sound right, does it? However, you know what I mean!) We tell you of our ministry, we share with you our affairs. We tell you about what we are doing. But you will notice that we do not talk to you about our finances.
This is the one time of the year that we do write this special letter. It’s called our PRESS fund. You know us well. We don’t like asking for funds. We seldom ask. But this is the one exception.
Reminder of What the PRESS Fund Means. It would be easy to forget. Here is what the PRESS fund is.
- PR stands for Professional Reimbursement. This covers the expenses of the ministry that can be reimbursed. The goal for the Professional Reimbursement is $1500.
- E stands for Equipment. This would be the actual equipment to do our ministry as well as the cost of the website ministry. I am actually starting to save for the next laptop. I’m hoping this one will last another year or two. The web site ministry will be professionally advertised this year. This is costly but necessary. I also support techPartner for the way that Chris Brown provides the technical help for my website. The goal for the Equipment is $3000.
- SS Stands for supplemental support. We are not in any way complaining but do want to explain to you that several of our significant supporters have dropped us due to their financial situation. Karen has retired from being the JOY Club director, so her salary of course is discontinued. The goal for the Supplemental Support is $3000.
Last year many contributed to the PRESS fund. We lay this out before you and simply ask you to pray about this with us. We trust the Lord and will be so thankful for however He answers. It is the greatest privilege in the world to serve Him and be partners with you. In our next letter I will tell you more about the book I am writing, the professional video recordings being made, the website opportunities, and my preaching ministry! For now let me say that I’m the busiest ever but loving it! I am not pain-free, but I’m enjoying being in less pain.
If you would like to help with our ministry, please fill out the little form at the bottom of our letter and make your check payable to: Baptist Church Planters. Attach the form and mail your check to: Baptist Church Planters at 36830 Royalton Road, Grafton OH 44044. I promise to send more information next month.
