“In the multitude of my thoughts within me Thy comforts delight my soul” (Psalm 94:19).
Recently a dear pastor friend of mine sent this verse to me and assured me of his prayers for Karen and me. I looked up Psalm 94:19 in my Bible. Though I have read this text many times before, it seemed almost brand new to me. The Holy Spirit really has an amazing way of taking His Word and suddenly applying it to us in new and dynamic ways. Literally this text could be translated as “When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul.” I am convinced that some people look in all the wrong places for comfort and encouragement. The right place to look for comfort and encouragement is the Lord. He offers to His people such help and encouragement. Through His Word, times of prayer, quietly waiting before Him, and worshipping Him with the Lord’s people are some of the ways that God consoles downtrodden or discouraged saints. How about you? Need a little encouragement? God’s comforts are precious.
For today: Are you looking in the right place for encouragement?
