“Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will” (Ephesians 1:5).
Yesterday I shared with you about the young boy named Randy. As a young child he had to be removed from his home because of his parents’ addiction which led to serious child neglect. He was moved from one foster home to another until the day when Charlie and Marcia Williamson intervened in his life. The caseworker had explained to Randy that depending on how the series of visitations would go, the Williamsons might be interested in adopting him. Charlie and Marcia knew this was not going to be easy. It took a long time for Randy to come to the place where he understood that his adoptive parents were not responsible for the hurts and rejections he had suffered. Finally the day came when Randy knew the sheer joy of being chosen by the Williamsons and being placed into their family as their very own son. How about you? Have you come to the place where you are beginning to understand the sheer joy of being adopted into God’s very own family? We will think more about this tomorrow.
For today: I am not my own. I’ve been adopted! I’ll be thinking often about this today.
