“Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will” (Ephesians 1:5).
“Why in the world would you put yourselves through all the trouble and heartache I caused you?” Randy asked Marcia Williamson, his adoptive mother. “You and Dad must’ve been out of your minds when you said that you would take me,” Randy said as he hugged his mom and headed out of the door for his part-time job after school. As Marcia watched Randy backing the car out of the driveway, she whispered to the Lord, “Father, thank you so very much for the wonderful young man Randy is becoming. What a joy it is to see what you are doing in his life. Thank you for adopting me and helping me to understand just a little bit about the joy of adoption.” How about you? Do you know the Lord Jesus as your personal Savior? If so, you have been adopted into the family of God. We enter God’s family by asking Jesus to be our Savior and that is called the new birth (John 3:1-7). But in addition, even greater is the truth that we have also been adopted. This means God places us as adult children into His family with all the privileges and responsibilities that come with this. What a wonderful blessing this is.
For today: Have you thanked the Lord for adopting you?
