“And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call His name JESUS: for He shall save His people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21).
We have been following along the narrative of Joseph’s discovery, his disappointment, and now his delight. What a blessed miracle Joseph received that day. Long before the technology to help expectant parents know if their baby is a boy or girl, the angel told him not only that the baby is a boy, but he even gave Joseph the name of the child. To those of us who have asked the Lord Jesus to be our Savior, there is no sweeter name than “Jesus.” This Jesus would save His people from their sins. The word “save” is sozo which means “to rescue from imminent danger and destruction.” The amazing thing about salvation is that theologians can never fully exhaust and explain it, but a very young child when properly taught can fully believe and accept it. Let the wonderful words “…call His name Jesus. He shall save His people from their sins” be part of your thoughts today. More about this tomorrow!
For today: Name above all names is the wonderful name of “Jesus”! Walk with Him today, dear believer.
