“I called upon the LORD in distress: the Lord answered me” (Psalm 118:5).

Years ago I was driving a bus loaded to the limit with 5th and 6th graders. Knowing that the bridge could be slippery and knowing that I was heavily loaded, I downshifted to fourth gear. We were about halfway across the Kirkwood Bridge spanning the Susquehanna River. It was snowing heavily. Suddenly my windshield wiper quit working. What a terrible place to have this happen. I couldn’t see.  This was just one in many, many times that I have cried out to the Lord in a distressing situation. But this was a life and death situation. “Lord, I have all these children onboard. I need your help right away!” I silently prayed. A terrified silence swept over my bus as the kids knew we were halfway across the bridge and suddenly stopping.  Those who were perceptive saw that the driver’s windshield was packed with snow. I’ll share more with you tomorrow about what happened next. For today, what distressing situation are you facing? Nothing is too hard for Him.

For today: I am glad that the Lord sees His people and is always ready to answer. How great is the Lord our God!
