“So they went, and made the sepulcher sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch” (Matthew 27:66).

This statement concludes the amazing events surrounding the death of the Lord Jesus. He with a loud voice yielded up His spirit (27:50 NKJV). From the tearing of the veil in the temple to the earth shaking, the sacrifice of Christ for our sins was made to the fullest extent. In shocking brazen boldness, the chief priests and Pharisees approached Pilate and requested that the burial place of Christ be made secure so that His disciples couldn’t steal the body of Christ and proclaim Him to be risen. These were the religious leaders of the day! Here is what I am thinking of today. The wages of sin is enormous. Christ made the tremendous payment in full. His body buried could not be secured by any sealing of the grave and the setting of a man-made watch! Join me in thanking the Lord for His amazing payment for us! Christ not only died and was buried, but tomorrow is coming! He will rise from the dead.

For today: Christ died for our sins. He was buried three days and nights. But Resurrection Day came, and He is alive forever more!
