“Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD” (Psalm 27:14).
Several ladies lingered in the foyer of First Baptist Church after their Bible study. As Pastor Kenward walked from his office, one of the ladies motioned for him to come and join their conversation. He discovered that Ellen was struggling in having to wait for her next scan. She had been diagnosed with cancer seven months before, and soon it would be time for her to have her latest CT scan to determine if the cancer had spread. “I really trust the Lord, Pastor, but I still worry at times. What’s wrong with me?” Ellen asked. “I’m embarrassed to admit that I still at times struggle with having to wait.” One lady put her arm around Ellen, and the Pastor lovingly replied, “Ellen, we do trust the Lord, but there are times that we do fret and even become anxious. It is important that when we do become anxious we purposely and intentionally do several things. First, we need to pray and tell Him exactly how we are feeling. Second, we need to remember His promises. Remember that He never broke a promise. Last, we need to invest extra time in reading His Word. I would suggest extra time in the Book of the Psalms. Please remember that we are praying for you, Ellen.”
For today: As we wait on the Lord, be sure that we are also worshipping. He is worthy indeed!
