“My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth” (1 John 3:18).
As Trudy put the last of the clean dishes away, her husband Denny placed the Bible on the table. It was time for the couple to read God’s Word and pray together. “Honey,” Trudy said, “I just want you to know how much it means to me that you not only tell me that you love me, you show me that you love me. I really appreciate you,” she continued. “It is easy to say, ‘I love you,’ and I hear my friends say this to people all the time as they conclude their cell phone call. But I wonder how often they show to their family and friends that they really do love them,” Trudy concluded. It was a special time in their couple’s devotions that evening. How does this verse affect you?
For today: It is important to say, “I love you.” But don’t forget to show your love as well.
