“O God, Thou art my God; early will I seek Thee…To see Thy power and Thy glory…Because Thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise Thee” (Psalm 63:1-3).
Kyrie got into the driver’s seat of the ambulance as he waited for his partner to finish the paperwork in the emergency room. It had been a very busy and long night on their shift. The previous call was a terrible tragedy brought on needlessly by drunkenness. Whispering to the Lord, Kyrie prayed, “O God, it’s early in the morning. I see the sunrise just beginning, and I know that You are God indeed. I can’t wait to see You in your great power and glory. How kind You are to me and how much I want to serve You.” Just then the sun broke through, creating a beautiful light inside the ambulance cab. “I love early mornings when I seek You each day, Lord,” Kyrie said to his Heavenly Father. Just then the blare of the tone came through the cab, and Kyrie’s partner ran to the ambulance. Over the radio the dispatcher blared, “Squad four, respond to 364 Michael Court. Woman in active labor. Her husband shouted ‘HURRY’ before hanging up.” Activating the flashing lights and siren, Kyrie shouted to his partner, “The Lord is good, and it’s going to be a great day.”
For today: I need to remember that no matter what comes my way today, God is awesome, and His lovingkindness is the best thing in all the world.
