A Prayer Request and an Update on My Karen
April 28th, 2016
As you know Karen’s PET scan revealed good news. Really good news! The cancer has not spread from the mass in the lung. We are so grateful because we fully realize that the news could have been otherwise. We are so overwhelmed with the number of dear folks who have chosen to walk along with us on this cancer journey. But that wasn’t the extent of the good news! In case you didn’t hear, the PET scan demonstrated that the intensity of the cancer within the mass has decreased. So with all this good news, what’s next?
There are some exciting possibilities. However it is premature for me to share these with you just now. I am not trying to be mean by keeping you in suspense. I really will tell you more when the time comes. For right now we do have a big prayer request for you to put on your prayer calendars! On Tuesday May 3rd at 10:00 in the morning, she has a Complete Pulmonary Function Test at the University Hospital Elyria Medical Center (how’s that for a title of a Hospital!) and then an appointment with the Specialist on the next day. Depending on the outcome of her lung function, there may be some very hopeful and helpful treatment that I will explain more in detail at a later time. Right now you can see how important this test is. We’re asking the Lord to strengthen her lung and in spite of this non-small cell adenocarcinoma in her right lung, we’re praying that her sick lung will be strong and that her capacity will be good.
It is truly amazing to see how the Lord opens doors of ministry and opportunity that we could never have experienced. Yesterday was a full morning of paperwork and tests at the Mercy Cancer Center. We were in an entirely different section of the very familiar facility. There we met wonderful new friends to whom Karen and I had an excellent door of opportunity to minister to them. It was incredible.
Here’s something to think about with me.
First, we are ambassadors representing the Lord and our Heavenly Homeland wherever we go (2 Corinthians 5:20).
Secondly, we need to remember that the things that happen to us are so that we can minister to others who are in the same situation (2 Corinthians 1:305).
Thirdly, we need to pray for each other asking God to give us boldness to open our mouths and to share Christ with others (Ephesians 6:19).
Fourly, we must always remember that God is God. His ways are not always easily understood. But when we don’t understand and when we don’t see the plan, we can always trust the Father’s heart. Whatever comes into our lives from the Lord gives us the opportunity once again to magnify Christ (Philippians 1:20) and glorify Him (1 Corinthians 10:31).
Thank you so much for praying. I will update us on Wednesday. The Lord loves you. Karen and I love you as well.
