“Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth… seek righteousness” (Zephaniah 2:3).

The prophet Zephaniah writes to Judah warning her of the consequences of sin. God is holy. When a nation deliberately turns to a wicked lifestyle and a culture of rebellion, the ramifications are serious indeed. Zephaniah describes their false religious practices (1:4), their wicked lifestyle (1:16), their corrupt leadership (1:7-8) and their unethical business practices (1:9-11). God clearly warns them that “Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD’S wrath” (Zephaniah 1:18). Babylon indeed invaded Judah and Jerusalem. Think about this. I believe that our beloved America is plunging into desperate times. As believers, we need to earnestly pray for our country, its leaders, and what kind of country we will leave to our children and grandchildren.

For today: Wow! We have a lot to pray about, don’t we!? I am so glad that our Sovereign God is in control.
