“By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honor, and life” (Proverbs 22:4).
The writer of Proverbs has been contrasting the two choices in life. One can choose to fear and honor the Lord and walk in His ways or one can choose the way of pride, sinfulness, and rebellion. One leads to the blessing of the Lord (22:4) and the other leads to His discipline (22:5). This is still the same for us today. While trials come and even difficult days arise, I choose to follow the Lord. I truly believe that as we take a good honest look at how frail we truly are, how easily tempted we can be, and how easily we sin, it will be easy to be humble. When I think of my awesome God, it is easy to fear Him. His riches, honor, and life are great blessings that I do not deserve, but I rejoice to experience them. How about you?
