“A wise son makes a glad father; but a foolish man despiseth his mother” (Proverbs 15:20).
Two dads were reading the morning newspaper. There on the front cover of the local newspaper was the heading, “Trooper Nabs Burglar in the Act.” The picture just below the headline showed the State Trooper taking the burglar to his patrol car. Both the trooper and the burglar were named along with the great work of the diligent police officer as well as the despicable long string of burglaries with which the suspect had been linked. That’s right. Two dads were reading the morning newspaper. One was the dad of the police officer. He couldn’t be more proud of his son. The other was the dad of the burglar. He and his wife wept as they put the paper picture down. He couldn’t have been more ashamed of the actions of his son. Two sons were pictured that day. Their actions solicited gladness and pride on the part of one dad and sorrow and shame on the part of the other. How will it be today for you?
For today: My actions not only reflect the Lord, they reflect my family as well.
