“What an Overwhelmingly Wonderful Day!”
An Update on Karen and a Change of Procedure Dates” July 14, 2016
We most certainly have experienced your prayers today. From our previous appointment last Friday we came home with a stack of papers and information about the Cyber Knife procedure. We reviewed the papers and also experienced a change of schedule during the weekend. Everything was set for this morning. Or at least we thought it was.
At exactly 3:30 this morning the Lord awakened me. I went from a sound sleep to being shaken. Immediately I whispered to the Lord, “What wrong Lord? Is it one of our children or grandchildren? I started praying for them and the sense of urgency didn’t pass. “What is it Lord?” I whispered intently.
Obviously I didn’t hear His audible voice. But the Lord answered just as clearly as could be. “The prescription! You forgot to refill the prescription” came the answer.
Being the calm, cool, collected, and well organized person that I am —NOT! I tried crawling out of bed so as not to awaken Karen. That didn’t work either. To make a long story short, we are very thankful that the Walgreens Pharmacy located less than five minutes from our home is open 24 hours per day. At a little after 4:00 this morning her prescription was filled and I was ready to start the day!
God is so wonderful. He worked it out so that the surgeon and technicians invited me back to the actual procedural room so that I could see the equipment. I was there to see them zipping Karen into the very tight shield as well as watching them place the mask which was tightly fitted around her face. The room was fitted with laser lights to align with the vest she was wearing which also had lights to help line-up the robotic arm from the massive machine which would send radiation to the pinpoint of where it needed to go.
She made it through the hour-long procedure without moving or coughing. God was so good. For those who are praying on the special treatment days, we did have a change of dates. Her Cyber Knife procedures have been changed to the following dates and times:
Tomorrow at 2:30
Monday at 2:30
Tuesday 8:00
Several of the staff warned us that traffic might become a nightmare with the tens of thousands of extra folks in town for the RNC. We have been warned that there will be protesters and an abundance of news crews and people visiting our city. We are concerned about this and have been warned to have a full tank of gas as well as map or GPS for alternate streets. The surgeon and I talked about several different ways he was thinking of using. What an amazing day. We do thank you for praying that we will be able to get through the traffic. We are confident the Lord will work this out.
Karen is home now and resting a bit. So far no burns and she seems to be doing quite well. Thank you all so much for praying. I just cannot tell you how much this means to us. The Lord loves you and so do we.
