“Karen had a Rough Day”
An Update on Karen December 27th, 2016

Karen and I hope that your focus has been on the greatness and grace of our awesome Lord. Think about His precious plan that the eternal Second Person of Godhead would take upon Himself a complete human nature so that He could offer Himself as the perfect substitute for sinful us! No matter what was taking place in our lives over Christmas this blessed fact should thrill and encourage us.

Many are wondering how my Karen is doing. I can honestly say that she is doing better today. Early in the morning on Friday Karen started coughing and just couldn’t get stopped. She coughed and coughed. Soon there would be no decision to be made. She was on her way to the Emergency Room. Throughout the day multiple Specialists did testing and worked hard to get her breathing better and the coughing under control.

It appeared that her lungs had filled once again with fluid. We were sure that we were heading into another thoracentesis. Then the surprising test result came back. There was very little fluid in her lungs. In fact the Radiologist told us that there was far too little fluid to safely drain. The Oncologist’s suspicion was correct.

Karen is on a new chemotherapy in the form of a pill. This medication has proven very effective in the fight against this mutated cancer. The downfall is that this medication sometimes produces a pneumonia like irritation of the lungs. So early in the evening she was sent home with prescriptions for an antibiotic, an inhaler, and strong steroids. She is starting to breathe without wheezing and she is going longer and longer without coughing.

Please pray that she will be able to take the chemotherapy medication without these symptoms. We are trusting the Lord. We really are. We thank the Lord that He has everything under control. We really do want to follow Him with an unconditional trust and obedience. We are so thankful that He is the best gift that could be given or received at Christmas time.
