“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1).
The waiting room was filled with patients who were struggling with cancer. Some had the look of fear. Some looked really angry. It wasn’t clear whether their anger was at the cancer or directed at God for allowing it to strike. Some were obviously the terrified caregivers who were there with the loved ones. Tears were not far away from many. There sat Karen by my side. How often she sat with me at my neurosurgeon’s office with my many back surgeries. Now I sat by her side as we awaited her cancer treatment. As I held her hand, we talked about the Lord being with us and how incredible is His unfailing love and help. The good news is that you don’t have to be in a cancer treatment waiting room to understand the joy and peace that comes from the Lord being your refuge and strength. How has He been a very present help to you today?
For today: If you know the Lord as your Savior, ask His help today. Be watching for His very present help in trouble.
