“For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us” (Romans 8:18).
Her husband’s heart was broken. For two and a half years, his wife had battled cancer. Two months ago the couple realized before the doctor told them that the chemo was no longer effective and it was time for hospice. On a particular day after she had been so violently ill, Marcus held his wife in his arms and whispered the following to her. “I am so sorry, Honey, that you are so sick. Just remember what Paul taught us. Our present sufferings pale in comparison to the glory that awaits us.” She whispered, “I can’t wait.” It was a precious moment in the life of this couple. What sufferings are you experiencing? Compare them with Heaven and eternity, and it will help you to keep them in right perspective.
For today: Lord, please help me to be honest in acknowledging my troubles, but help me to keep eternity in focus.
