“That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ” (1 John 1:3).
It is truly incredible is this matter of fellowship! The concept of this blessed word speaks about “That which we share in common.” The beautiful word koinonia communicates togetherness, participating together and sharing with those in similar surroundings and standings. The Apostle John shares with us that this fellowship is vertical (with the Father and His Son) as well as horizontal (with each other.) Such fellowship was briefly experienced at the restaurant the other day. Joline bowed in prayer and gave the Lord thanks for her meal. About ten minutes later, a grandmother and her little grandson stopped by her table. “Excuse me for interrupting. But I noticed you prayed before your meal. May I ask if you are a Christian” the grandmother inquired. “I surely am! I asked the Lord Jesus to my Savior about three years ago” Joline replied. “I just knew it” Grandma said. “It’s wonderful to know that we belong to the Lord. We’ve got to run for now. But maybe we’ll meet in the air this very afternoon!” she exclaimed as she and her grandson walked away. Joline smiled. This fellowship with another Christian that she didn’t even get to formally meet really blessed her life. How will this blessed fellowship work out in your life today?
For today: I am so glad that I am not alone. I have the Lord Jesus and the wonderful fellowship of God’s people. How about you?
