“Karen’s Notes!
Insights from a Glory-Bound Lady”

It matters how we think, how we act, and who we really are when no one is watching. Karen wrote about this, and I am happy to share her thoughts.

Selected Notes
Volume 1 Number 7 “Practicing His Presence” May 23rd, 2018

“She had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard His Word. Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw Him, she fell down at His feet” (Luke 10:39, John 11:32).

Karen became very convinced and convicted that she wanted to do by faith what Mary did by sight. She was determined to focus on the Lord Jesus and grow in her love for Him as she viewed herself sitting at Jesus’ feet. Here are a couple of notes she wrote about Mary being at Jesus’ feet and experiencing His presence.

Karen wrote: When calamity came, Mary was able to cope because she had already sat at the feet of Jesus. Mary chose the excellent in Luke 10. In John 11 we see Mary in a much different setting. She was (1) grief stricken (2) confused (3) sorrowing (4) among friends and yet very much alone. BUT she fell at the feet of Jesus, the source of all comfort. She didn’t (1) send Him away (2) become bitter (3) accuse Him of not being fair. Mary shared her heart not with clenched fists; but with open palms at His feet. Jesus groaned (John 11:33) and wept (11:35). He shared the pain! Just as Mary sat at Jesus feet- we must practice His presence in our everyday life. It will build our relationship with Him; help to keep us from sin and encourage the peace of God (John 14:27).

Michael’s observation: It is not just words, friend. It really is how the Lord wants us to picture ourselves and Him. Her handwritten notes in her Bible study journal brought tears to my eyes and determination in my heart that I want to practice the same thing.
