“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might” (Ephesians 6:10).
“I don’t think I can remember being any more nervous than I am right now at this very moment!” Lanny told his parents. This sixteen-year-old was an eyewitness to a robbery at one of the local fast food chains. After praying with their son once again, they prepared to leave for the detective bureau where he was to identify one of the suspects. “Lanny, you don’t have to face this in your own strength. As you sit down at the desk with Detective Lorenzo, once again ask the Lord to give you strength. ‘Be strong in the Lord,’ Lanny. We are proud of you and will be praying for you,” Dad told his son. With clarity, Lanny once again recalled the details of what he had seen and heard. Coming out of the detective’s office, Lieutenant Lorenzo shook his hand, thanked him and then said to his parents, “Lanny’s strength and clarity is not that of a typical sixteen-year-old guy. You both should be very proud of him.” They were proud indeed, but quickly took advantage of the situation to share with him about the Lord’s strength.
For today: How will “Be strong in the Lord” play out in your life today?
