“For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out” (1 Timothy 6:7).
According to portablepress.com, John Smith (1899) wanted to be buried with his recliner and a checkerboard. If that was not enough, he also wanted to buried with a key to his tomb in case the undertakers made a mistake! We smile at this. But think of how some people live. Giving little to no thought at all to eternity, they live clutching to themselves and hoarding their possessions as if they would be able to take them with them. Please understand. I really do believe that everything we have really belongs to the Lord. He has freely given us these possessions to enjoy. We need to take care of them and appreciate them. But someday, I will leave behind every single one of these possessions. Only what’s done for Christ for last.
For today: I need to be careful to keep my priorities right by staying focused on the Lord.
