“I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state. For I have no man likeminded who will naturally care for your state” (Philippians 2:20-21).
What a different day and age that was! Today if we want to speak to someone on the other side of the world, we simply text or email them. One evening I was communicating with a man in India. It was nearly instantaneous as we talked about his spiritual condition. Paul had no such luxury. But he had something wonderful indeed. He had a faithful, trustworthy partner in the Lord’s work by the name of Timothy. Paul says that Timothy would “naturally care for your state.” I want to be that kind of servant. Please understand. I know that I have failed many times. But in my heart, I want to be someone who deeply cares about people and has the testimony of being faithful. How about you?
For today: What great opportunities we have to demonstrate the love of the Lord Jesus by the way that we care for each other. How will this play out in your life today?
