“O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt His name together” (Psalm 34:3).
“Good evening, class. Look at this! We have perfect attendance!” Dr. Kenward said to the class of adult students in the Bible Institute in which he taught. “Please take out a sheet of paper, place your name at the top, and I have a little quiz for you tonight. Last week I gave you five verses that you were to look up the selected key words I gave you, discovering the meaning of the words and the application of the verse. I am going to choose Psalm 34:3.” Dr. Kenward asked for the meaning of the words “magnify” and “exalt.” There were a few friendly groans and even one fooled by asking for three hints! The class did very well in explaining that “magnify” is the word gadal which basically mean to grow, become great or important, powerful. The word “exalt” is ruwm which means to rise up, be high, to set on high. The application is that in every situation, wise believers know that our God is awesome. He is matchless in every way. I want my praise as well as my prayers to rise up to Him as I lift Him high indeed.
For today: No one and nothing should ever come close to our view of our awesome God. How will this truth affect you today?
