“And Joshua…said unto them, I am old and stricken in age: And ye have seen all that the LORD your God hath done unto all these nations because of you; for the LORD your God is He that hath fought for you” (Joshua 23:2-3).
He trained under Moses. He fought as Moses held his hands and arms up. He stayed on the mountaintop even though he heard what he thought was the sound of war in the camp because Moses told him to stay and wait for him. He entered the land with the other spies and brought back a great report. He and Caleb pleaded with the people to trust God. He waited forty years to get to enter the land, and then he had many battles to fight. What a life he lived. Now, as with many of us, he was an older man. What a great example he is to each of us. As an older man he recounts the many wonderful ways that the LORD their God had fought for them. We need to keep reminding those who are following us of the many ways that the Lord is continuing to work!
For today: If you are an older person, to whom are you recounting the ways that the Lord is still working? If you are a younger person, are you watching and listening?
