“And it happened when He was in a certain city, that behold, a man who was full of leprosy saw Jesus; and he fell on his face and implored Him, saying, ‘Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.’ Then He put out His hand and touched him, saying, ‘I am willing; be cleansed.’ Immediately the leprosy left him” (Luke 5:12-13).
It was an unthinkable situation. Never would a devout Jewish man ever consider touching or even being near a leper. It was unpleasant. It was impossible! But not when it came to the Lord Jesus. He alone does the most incredible, miraculous things imaginable. I have often wondered how long this man with leprosy had gone without the touch of another human. Typically he would live outside the community, and if others came close, he would shout, “Unclean! Unclean!” It was a deplorable life until the Lord Jesus walked into it. What sweet, incredible words, “I am willing. Be cleansed.” How does this strike you? Are you wrestling with sin and wonder if the Lord could ever still love you? Rest assured. He touched the leper. He loves and cares for you.
For today: Don’t let your sin keep you from Christ. He is just the One you need.
