“So shall My Word be that goeth forth out of My mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it” (Isaiah 55:11).
Andrew really didn’t want to go to church. In fact, it was about the last place on the planet that he wanted to go. So why was he there? The answer is that he had met a young lady at work, and during the conversation she had witnessed to him. “How about I take you to dinner on Friday night and you can tell me all about your church?” Andrew told Maddie. “I’m sorry, Andy. Thanks for the invitation, but I cannot date you because I’m a Christ-follower, and you don’t know Him yet. You would be welcome to come to church and sit with my family though,” she politely said. Of all things, he came! The pastor that morning was speaking from John 3. When he came to John 3:16, the pastor said, “Go ahead, put your name in that verse. For God so loved, now put your name right there, that He gave His only begotten Son that, now put your name right there again, believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Andy had ignored much of the singing; however, God’s Word didn’t return void. He was struck with heavy conviction and a tremendous sense of how much he needed the Lord. It would be soon that he trusted Christ, and no, it wasn’t to date Maddie. That did come later though.
For now: How is God’s Word impacting your life? It will always accomplish His purpose.
