“Karen’s Notes!
Insights from a Glory-Bound Lady”
Selected Notes
Volume 3 Number 14, “Now That’s How to Run!”
April 1st, 2020
I love sharing little notes and quips from Karen’s Bible study journals. Many folks respond with public comments while others write to me in a private way concerning how the Lord worked out the timing of “Karen’s Notes” in just the perfect way. Please be assured that this is my privilege and pleasure.
Karen must have been involved in a study in the book of Hebrews. I’ve read a couple of similar statements that she made in studies that followed. These notes were from years ago. I’ve watched her implement them even when she became very ill. Let me share the Scriptures and then her notes.
“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; Who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God” (Hebrews 12:1-2).
Karen wrote: If I am going to be a faithful witness (Hebrews 11) then I also need to be a faithful runner! (Hebrews 12:1-2).
1. The great conclusion (12:1). “Wherefore” is the conclusion of what has gone on before (10:35-11:4).
2. The great conditioning (12:1b) There are things that I must lay aside for me to run this spiritual race.
3. The great contest (12:1c-2). “Let us run”
It is so important to do these things to be a good witness.
Michael’s observation: I don’t know about you, but I am glad that the race we are running is not a competition with each other. Wait until you see what Karen wrote about this. I’ll share it with you next week. The race is with ourselves. The Christian life is an endurance race, from the starting point of our salvation to the finish line when the Lord welcomes us Home. Run well, dear friends.
